Hans Kretz is a conductor, pianist, researcher in philosophy and educator. He holds a PhD in Music (Practice Led) from the University of Leeds and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis.
He integrates his roles as an improviser, conductor, and creative artist with technological experimentation, informed by his experience collaborating with the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) in network performance and AI-driven co-creativity. His musical endeavors are part of an ongoing practice-based research that seeks to reassess the intersections of social arts, social sciences, and engineering sciences through the lens of judgment and artistic anthropology, through participation in projects such as the EU Horizon project Multisensory, User-centred, Shared cultural Experiences through Interactive Technologies.
His writings have appeared in the Recherches d'Esthétique Transculturelle series by L'Harmattan and in the Cahiers Critiques de Philosophie. His PhD in philosophy, Esthétique transculturelle et philosophies du jugement, was recently published by L'Harmattan. Recent conferences include CeReNeM (University of Huddersfield), the Symposium on Computer Music Multidisciplinary Research (CMMR) in Tokyo, the IRCAM Forum, and the Orpheus Institute.
